FiliTico TheBeatMonger presents a local and cyber legend of psytrance ARJUNA spinning some of the good sh1t, this time a blend of techhouse moving onto some dark and driving psytrance.

Digitigrade for names' sake

Finally, although 2008 is off to a slow start with the apartment transition and all, I have some timely and timeless goodies for the year's first show, Digitigrade 1.

For my new year's resolution, I have decided to split my mixing into 3 split personalities. All of my Psy-related mixing will remain under the FiliTico moniker, and the club stuff under a new name: Alberto Flow.

Finally, a new class M classified project I am starting with a friend (read: anonymous, since he doesn't know he is in the group yet) which is still unnamed (and im taking ideas from all over the place) will be developed over the next couple weeks.

The show, Digitigrade will be the tag I use for official Owl Radio mixen, not that you care for any of this, yet you read on, several dozen words after the beginning of the post ;)

So strap on your strap on and wiggleskip to tomorrow's dirtey drumbeats, Tuesdays 7-9 p.m. Eastern Time. If the recorder is working, mixes shall be promptly posted.

After the show I realized how much Yellow Sunshine Explosion dominated the mix. It's a great record label featuring some of the best progressive psychedelic trance in the world.

My third mix of the year comes full circle back to the psychedelic side of things. This is much closer to what I will be spinning at Ultra Music Festival this year. I will find some space to host all the mixes soon.

Ultra Music Festival

This is one of the biggest electronic dance parties in the country. The Beat Monger will be carefully following this one as D-day comes, incidentally a day after TBM's birthday.

Picture 50,000+ people at Bayfront Park in Miami with 200+ DJs, including some of the best in the world, and a couple bands (The Cure, need I say more?). Tickets wont be cheap, so the budget-minded people may want to pay close attention to the college radio stations for freebies.

I remember years ago wanting to spin there. Will this by my lucky break? or will I see the crowds from within once again.

Owl Radio

Florida Atlantic University has a student-run radio station featuring several EDM DJs among their freeform lineup. Owl Radio has been around for over a decade with many generations of up-and-coming DJs that have played several clubs in the area and abroad.

So far, I have heard progressive house and trance, electro house, goa trance, dark psy, vocal dance, minimal techno, and several more styles. Several guest DJs stop by once in a while to throw down their two cents on the one-twos. Shows are one to two hours long and giveaways are abundant.

The staff works part time and comes from all walks of musical life, rockers, hippies, and everything in between. Owl Radio serves as a beacon of freeform radio against the murky, dull, predictable, mainstream stations on your FM tuner. Now only online, but soon coming to some speakers near you.
